- Bachelor of Healthcare Economics: You must complete a 6-week nursing internship before starting the programme; proof of internship placement must be submitted with your application. Further information can be found here.
- Bachelor of Electrical Engineering & Information System Technology: It is recommended that you complete 6 weeks of the 13-week internship required by the Examination Regulations before starting your studies. You can find more information here.

- What language skills do I need for my studies?Hide

Language skills are required for the following degree programmes:
- Bachelor of History: Although knowledge of Latin is not required for admission, it is strongly recommended. See Section 7 of the Examination Regulations for further details.
- Teacher Education – German in Gymnasium: “Proven knowledge of Latin and another foreign language at B1 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages”. For explanation, see “Teacher Education Examination Regulations I” and “Proof of foreign language knowledge required by the Teacher Education Examination Regulations I”.
This corresponds to the successful completion of the following language courses at the Language Centre of the University of Bayreuth: Basic Course 3 (Exception: Chinese, where an advanced course is required). - Teacher Education – English in Gymnasium: “Proven knowledge of Latin and “Knowledge of another modern foreign language on the A2 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages”. That means, in addition to English, you must be able to demonstrate knowledge of another modern foreign language! For explanation, see “Teacher Education Examination Regulations I” and “Proof of foreign language knowledge required by the Teacher Education Examination Regulations I”.

The subject-specific study counselling is your point of contact for all academic and content-related questions about your studies, such as academic requirements, course planning, emphasis/specialization, and questions about the Academic and Examination Regulations. In addition, the Subject-specific study counselling is responsible for providing guidance on access to master’s degree programmes. You can find the numerus clausus (NC) for our degree programmes with restricted admission in recent years here. The NC is calculated each semester based on the number of applications received and the applicants’ grammar school grades. The NC from previous semesters has limited predictive value for the future.

Starting your studies

Before lectures and seminars start, there are a few events you shouldn’t miss. For some degree programmes, there are preparatory mathematics courses. For all degree programmes, there are orientation events. You can find all the dates for the year of study, including lecture periods, here.
There is a special orientation week for international students. Detailed information regarding the date and form of the orientation week will be communicated to all admitted students by the Welcome Services via email.
